They provided helmets with shields so we didn't need to bring goggles. They showed us how to use the snowmobiles button and throttle wise and how to work together by moving our bodies with the turns as well. The guide was very helpful. Our group had a few tumbles that he attended to. He was easy to follow and made sure everyone stayed together. They had everyone organize in groups that wanted to go faster in the front and slower in the back. The trails were nice with some long straight fast areas and some winding more scenic trail like areas. I had never ridden a snowmobile, but been motorcycling and Jet Skiing for years, so I was able to catch on quick. Front of the pack is where you want to be to go faster, people with kids and those who wanted slower, were to the rear. It worked well. The guides were nice, and very helpful. The trails were fun. We rarely just went in a straight line. So many undulations and turns. It truly was so much fun. Like being in a real-life post card. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a family-friendly adventure in the area. A bit of adrenaline, a whole lot of beautiful scenery, and an uncommon experience.
EXCELLENTVerified 1st Time Snow Mobiler Experience I took the 1 1/2 hour tour on December 30, 2025. It was spectacular. About 10 minutes from Saranac Lake near Paul Smith. You could ride tandem or by yourself; i chose by myself. As a first time snow mobile rider, I was a little apprehensive, but the staff explained everything very well. There was a staff member at the beginning and end of the group (about 6 to 8 snow mobiles) so they made sure no one was left behind. I got up to 39 mph on an open stretch! Woohoo! We were on private property and some public trails but we didn't see another person or snow mobile group the whole time we were out. Absolutely fantastic experience. This was our 2nd time doing this tour with Farmhouse. They are great guys who run the tours. We surprised our 14yr old with a tour for his birthday. He loved it! Do dress extra warm, hand held hand warmers were great. I would recommend foot warmers as well. We booked this as an activity during a weekend in lake placid to celebrate my boyfriends 40th birthday and it was perfect! Lee, our guide, was friendly and made sure we enjoyed the experience fully. He checked in throughout the tour to make sure we were ok, offered photographs, and asked if we wanted to switch drivers halfway though the tour. From start to finish, everything was well organized and welcoming. The staff, particularly Forrest, was friendly, patient, and made sure everyone felt comfortable, especially our kids (16 and 9 year old boys) who were a bit nervous at first. The safety briefing was thorough, and Forrest was great at explaining how to operate the ATVs confidently. Please note that the adults were the drivers and the kids rode in the passenger seat- the kids didn't drive. The trails were fun, winding through the farms and the woods with stunning mountain views. We loved the mix of easy paths and more challenging sections that kept things exciting. Our guide shared interesting facts about the area.By the end, we all felt like pros and couldn’t stop smiling. This experience was the highlight of our trip to the Adirondacks, and we can’t wait to come back and do it again.
